# Install Your eBanano eSIM on iPhone: Step-by-Step Guide

> Step-by-step instructions to install your eBanano eSIM on any compatible iPhone, from XS to the latest models, using a QR code or manual entry.

Great news for iPhone users — Apple has made eSIM installation about as smooth as it gets. eBanano eSIMs are compatible with **iPhone XS and later**, which covers everything from the XS and XR all the way through the latest models. There are two ways to install: scanning the QR code from your email (the quick and easy way) or entering your plan details manually. Both work perfectly — pick whichever feels right for you.

## Install Your eSIM

    This is the fastest way to get set up. Grab the QR code from your eBanano confirmation email and follow these steps.

      <Step title="Open Settings and go to Cellular">
        On your iPhone, open the **Settings** app, then tap **Cellular** (it may also appear as **Mobile Service** or **Mobile Data** depending on your region).
      </Step>

      <Step title="Tap Add eSIM">
        Scroll down and tap **Add eSIM**. If you already have a physical SIM in your phone, you'll still see this option — your eSIM will live alongside it.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Choose Use QR Code">
        Tap **Use QR Code**. Your iPhone's camera will open. If asked, allow camera access.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Scan the QR code from your eBanano email">
        Hold your phone's camera over the QR code in your email until your iPhone recognises it. You should feel a small vibration or see a confirmation pop-up. Make sure the code is well-lit and your camera isn't too close or too far away.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Tap Add Cellular Plan">
        Once the QR code is scanned, a prompt will appear asking you to confirm. Tap **Add Cellular Plan** to download your eBanano eSIM to your device.

      <Step title="Label your eSIM">
        iOS will ask you to give this plan a label. We recommend something like **"eBanano — Italy"** or **"eBanano — Japan"** so you can spot it instantly when switching plans. You can always rename it later in Settings.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Choose when to use this plan">
        iOS will ask whether to use this eSIM for calls, messages, and/or data. Since eBanano is a **data-only** plan, select it for **Cellular Data** only. Keep your primary SIM as your default for calls and texts.

  <Tab title="Manual Entry">
    If you can't scan the QR code (for example, if you're viewing your email on your iPhone and can't scan the screen with the same device), you can enter the details manually instead.

      <Step title="Open Settings and go to Cellular">
        Open the **Settings** app, then tap **Cellular** (or **Mobile Service** / **Mobile Data**).

      <Step title="Tap Add eSIM">
        Scroll down and tap **Add eSIM**.

      <Step title="Tap Enter Details Manually">
        At the bottom of the QR code scanner screen, tap **Enter Details Manually**.

      <Step title="Enter your SM-DP+ address and activation code">
        Your eBanano confirmation email contains two pieces of information: an **SM-DP+ address** (a web address) and an **Activation Code** (a long string of characters). Type or paste both exactly as they appear — they are case-sensitive.

      <Step title="Follow the on-screen prompts">
        Tap **Next** and follow the remaining prompts to confirm and download your eSIM, then label it and assign it to Cellular Data as described in the QR Code method above.

<Tip>
  Label your eSIM with your destination (e.g. "eBanano — France") — it makes switching between your home SIM and travel eSIM a breeze, especially if you're hopping between countries on the same trip.

## Set Up Your Data Settings

Installing the eSIM is only half the job. You'll need to make sure your iPhone is actually pointed at eBanano for data when you're abroad. Here's how to configure it:

    Open **Settings** and tap **Cellular**.

    Under your list of plans, tap the eBanano eSIM you just installed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable Turn On This Line">
    Make sure the **Turn On This Line** toggle is switched on. If it's off, your eSIM won't be active at all.

  <Step title="Set eBanano as your Cellular Data source">
    Go back to the main **Cellular** screen, tap **Cellular Data**, and select your eBanano eSIM. This tells your iPhone to use eBanano's network for all data while abroad.

  <Step title="Enable Data Roaming">
    With your eBanano eSIM selected, tap into it and turn on **Data Roaming**. This is essential — without it, your phone won't connect to local networks abroad, and you won't get any data.

<Warning>
  **Don't forget to enable Data Roaming on your eBanano eSIM line.** It sounds counterintuitive, but even with a travel eSIM you need this setting switched on. Without it, your phone won't connect to local partner networks when you're overseas, and you'll be left without data. Double-check this before you board your flight!
