Buying an eSIM, installing it, and starting its validity are not always the same thing. Check the activation rule in the details of your specific package before installing it.

What starts the validity period?

There isn’t one activation rule for every 2Chip plan.

When should I buy it?

If your package activates on first network connection, buying it in advance doesn’t by itself start the package’s usage period. If it activates on purchase, the validity period starts even while the eSIM is still uninstalled. Avoid buying too far ahead. Also check whether the package has a separate deadline for first use. This depends on the offer.

When should I install it?

  • First network connection: installation before departure may be convenient, provided the package conditions allow it.
  • Installation: wait until you’re ready for the validity period to begin.
  • Purchase: installation timing doesn’t delay the countdown.
You need an existing internet connection, such as Wi-Fi, to download and install an eSIM. It’s better not to leave installation until you’re somewhere without another connection.

I’ve installed it. Has the plan started?

Not necessarily. Installation alone doesn’t start a package that activates on first connection to a supported network. Check the activation rule and any available status or expiry information in your package details.
Don’t delete an installed eSIM just because the activation status is unclear. Reinstallation may not be possible for that profile.
